Frequently Asked Questions
How many times can I use my Instant Monsters foam latex prosthetic?
It all depends on how careful you are with it! With proper treatment you can reuse your prosthetic several times. Here are a few things you can do to extend the life of your prosthetic:
Take your time and be as gentle as possible when you remove it to preserve the edges
Powder the inside after removal to eliminate any residual stickiness, then put it back on it's plastic base so it dries in the right shape
Apply the prosthetic with liquid latex, which peels off and doesn't need any removers that can damage the edges. Be careful not to get liquid latex in your hair
If you're wearing a hood that hides the edges, don't glue them down!
Can you paint my prosthetics for me?
All of our prosthetics are available pre-painted for an additional fee. You just select a skin tone from our color chart, give us any additional specifics that you want and we'll do the rest!
Can you make me a custom prosthetic?
While we don't usually make custom prosthetics, it is something we can do. Please be aware that the cost will be significantly higher than that of one of the items in our store. This is because most of the labor involved in making a new prosthetic is in the sculpting and molding stages. Email us for details.
Do you offer wholesale prices?
Because we are still a small company, we do not currently offer wholesale prices. However, we can offer a discount for large orders, and for non-profit organizations and schools. Email us for details.
Do you sell the glues and makeup that I need?
We carry adhesive and remover, but not makeup (yet). Until we do you can get everything you need at your local costume shop.
Do you ship outside of the USA?
Due to some difficulties with internatonal customs lately, we are currently only shipping within the USA. We hope to have this issue resolved soon so that we can resume international sales.
What is your return policy?
We have a no refund policy on our products for health and hygiene reasons. All sales are final.
How long do Instant Slime and Instant Blood last?
Both of these products contain a preservative, so once they're mixed with water they should last several weeks without any problems. If you store them in the fridge, you can extend the life even more. However, because ultimately how it is stored is a factor we cannot guarantee any specific time frame
What's with your gelatin cubes? Can't I just use the stuff from the grocery store?
Technically you can, but you won't get as good results. Our prosthetics grade gelatin is significantly stronger than food grade, and it is also better able to stand up to heat and moisture. And since it's pre-made, you don't have to measure or weigh anything. Just melt it and go!
My foam latex prosthetic has an odd smell. What can I do about it?
Foam latex naturally has the faint smell of sulfur due to the curing compound used in its manufacture. This smell is harmless. However, if it bothers you the prosthetic can be gently washed with dish soap and warm water to reduce or eliminate it. Be sure to lay the prosthetic back on its plastic base (don't let the edges fold under and get stuck) and let it completely dry before applying it.
Is there any allergy danger when using in this product?
Some people have a natural allergy to latex products or the adhesives used. To test, apply a small amount of each product on your forearm or the inside of your elbow for a few hours. If there is no reaction, you can safely apply the prosthetic.
I tore my prosthetic! How can I fix it?
Small tears in the center of a prosthetic can be fixed by applying a small amount of liquid latex or ProsAide adhesive inside of the tear. Let it dry, then press the sides of the tear together to stick them.
Tears in the edge of a prosthetic can be fixed with liquid latex. Place the prosthetic on its plastic base, then hold the torn sides apart and brush a thin coat of latex onto the plastic. Set the torn sides back in place and let the latex dry. The latex will bond the tear together, but you must treat the repaired prosthetic with care.
